The first country in the world to suspend COVID-19 vaccinations

According to the Danish National Health Commission, the COVID-19 epidemic has been brought under control in the country. The Danish Health Agency announced that the epidemic is under control, with vaccine coverage of the Danish population high with 89% of people 12 years of age and older fully vaccinated. As a result, the National Health Commission will temporarily suspend vaccination programs against COVID-19.

From May 15 onwards, Danes will no longer be invited to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, but they will still be able to go to vaccination sites to complete their shot.

Denmark’s COVID-19 vaccination program begins shortly after Christmas 2020. Along with that, a large proportion of Danes have contracted COVID-19 since Omicron became the dominant strain, synonymous with Herd immunity in the population is high.
