A Brazilian man celebrating his 100th birthday received a Guinness World Record for working loyally with a single company for more than 84 years.

It was Mr. Walter Orthmann, who worked at Industrias Renaux SA, a textile company in Brusque in southern Brazil, on January 17, 1938, at the age of 15. Initially, Mr. Orthman worked in the shipping department because he was fluent in German. After that, he was promoted to administrative assistant and is currently the position of sales director.

During his more than 84-year career, he has made numerous sales contracts around the world, receiving wages in 9 different currencies. He is also a customer of nearly every commercial airline in Brazilian aviation history.

Reminiscing about the early days of entering the company, he said that at that time there were no computers, documents had to be retyped using a typewriter and sent by post. Nowadays, when technology has developed, it has greatly facilitated the work. Telephones and the Internet help people coordinate business activities anywhere in the world. Thanks to that, he was able to work effectively despite being at an “old and rare” age.
