4 signs to help detect cancer 3 years early

Cancer is still the leading cause of death, which is partly due to too late detection.

Now there’s a way to early cancer detection before 3 years. Large study published in British medical journal BMJ showed 4 “alarming” symptoms that predict cancer will occur 3 years later, according to the British daily Express.

Large population-based study conducted based on data from UK databases UK General Practice Research Database.

4 symptoms were studied to diagnose cancers of the urinary tract, respiratory tract, esophagus, and colon 3 years after symptom onset.

New-onset tumors can be benign (non-cancerous) or, in this case, malignant (cancerous).

According to Expressthe symptoms that the researchers focused on were:

There is blood in the urine

Hemoptisi

Difficulty swallowing

Rectal bleeding.

What did the researchers discover?

During 3 years of follow-up, out of 11,108 cases started blood in urinethere were 472 cases of urinary tract cancer in men and 162 in women.

Of the 4,812 who started coughing up blood, 220 had respiratory cancer in men and 81 in women 3 years later.

Of the 5,999 cases of onset of dysphagia, 150 were diagnosed with esophageal cancer in men and 81 in women 3 years later.

Of the 15,289 cases of rectal bleeding, 184 were diagnosed with colorectal cancer in men and 154 in women 3 years later.

Prediction accuracy increases with age and is “astonishingly high,” the researchers said, as in men aged 75 to 84 with hemoptysis and in men aged 65 to 74 with difficulty swallow.

“The onset of alarming symptoms increases the likelihood of a cancer diagnosis, especially in men and those over 65 years of age,” the researchers concluded.

This result helps detect potential cancer at an early stage and make it easier to treat, according to Express.

What should I do if I start experiencing these symptoms?

It is important to be aware of new or worrisome symptoms.

The UK’s National Health Service notes: “Although it’s not certain that it’s cancer, it’s important to get it checked out early. Detecting cancer early makes it easier to treat.”

It is important to understand your body.

If you know your body well and know what’s normal, you’ll be more likely to notice any changes, explains Macmillan Cancer Support UK. Do not hesitate to seek medical attention immediately if you experience persistent, unexplained or unusual symptoms Express.
