Level 2 field hospital No. 3 completes its mission to return home
On the evening of April 30, the flight that brought 30 Vietnamese doctors and nurses from Level 2 Field Hospital No. 3 to complete the task landed at Tan Son Nhat airport in the joy of relatives and teammates.
The late-night flight on April 30 brought 30 of the 64 doctors and nurses from Level 2 Field Hospital No. 3 home after completing their missions at the United Nations Mission in South Sudan. The remaining soldiers will return home in the next wave.
The welcome ceremony was organized by the Ministry of National Defense, chaired by the Head of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department and the Military Hospital 175. Waiting outside were relatives of the doctors and nurses after 1 year of separation.
Major General Nguyen Hong Son, Director of Military Hospital 175 said: “This moment is really emotional, you have completed the task of returning to the motherland.”
Major General Son also shared that, in the past year, Covid-19 caused a lot of difficulties, but the results of the soldiers’ expertise and mass mobilization work… have helped the local people a lot.
Level 2 field hospital No. 3 (Field Hospital 2.3) was established in November 2019, soldiers set off on duty at the United Nations Mission in Bentiu province, South Sudan on March 23/ 2021. Here, Field Hospital 2.3 is the highest medical level.
During the implementation of the mission, Field Hospital 2.3 has received more than 1,400 outpatient cases, organized air transportation of 16 cases and successfully operated 16 cases.
Among them, there were many severe and complicated cases that were praised by the Chief Medical Officer of the Mission and the Chief of the Military Medical Department of the mission. In particular, Field Hospital 2.3 boldly applied the Tele-medicine system in emergency surgery for severe cases with the support of experts from Military Hospital 175, nearly 10,000km away from the locality.
