The Russian Federal Space Agency Roscosmos announced that Western sanctions are preventing cooperation on the International Space Station.

According to RT, Roscosmos Director Dimitry Rogozin said on April 30 that they have decided on the time to withdraw from the International Space Station (ISS) and will notify partners a year in advance.

Mr Rogozin told Rossiya-24 TV channel that although a time frame has been set, the authorities “have no obligation to make it public”.

RT reported that Rogozin previously said that the sanctions imposed by the West related to the Russia-Ukraine conflict are preventing Roscosmos from conducting normal activities when cooperating with the US and Western countries. another on the ISS. The terms of Russia’s activities on the ISS are decided by the Russian government and president, and the agency will now be allowed to continue operating there until 2024.

The head of Roscosmos said that for the rest of the time on the ISS, Russia “will demonstrate its readiness to deploy the Russian Orbital Service Station (ROSS)”, a multifunctional space station with many development plans under conduct.

In mid-March, Mr. Rogozin said that ROSS would only have the presence of Russian cosmonauts and “could be applied militarily”, RT quoted.
