Vietnamese people in five continents: Copywriter causes ‘fever’ because of video about Covid-19

Copywriter Titania Tran of the advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy (USA) has just been honored as AdAge’s creator of the year. AdAge is a magazine, website news in the US in the field of advertising and communication.

The Innovation Award is held annually by AdAge to honor the creative ideas in the field of advertising and marketing.

Titania was born in America in Vietnamese family. According to Titania’s confession on her personal website, from a young age she was discriminated against because of her background. After the pandemic Covid-19 As a result, the Asian-American community has experienced violence and discrimination in the United States.

In 2020, Titania wrote, read the lyrics and made a short personal video called “Call it Covid-19” (Call it Covid-19) with support from colleagues of Asian descent. The video talks about how “a word will not just be a word” when it is uttered with the same attitude racist. In 2021, the footage returned to the spotlight as crime against Asians escalated.

The video received many views and was published on major media outlets such as The New York Times,BBC, even included in teaching books. The footage is still available on the City of Portland government website, where Wieden+Kennedy is located.

Ban examiner of AdAge praised Titania’s work and the fact that the video was a self-initiated idea. Judge Aisea Laugaue judged the video to be so impressive that it went viral social network Instagram and other platforms.
