Despite traffic jams, tourists still flock to the West for the holidays
In the past two days, although the roads out of Ho Chi Minh City have continuously appeared congested, traffic jams have not stopped the flow of people going to the West to travel. The eco-tourism areas on both sides of the Tien River in Tien Giang and Ben Tre have welcomed thousands of visitors every day.
According to families doing tourism on Thoi Son island (My Tho, Tien Giang), normally only about 1000 visitors come here every day. However, in the past 2 days, the number of visitors has increased dramatically, some people claim that the number of visitors has increased by at least 5 times.
Visitors to Thoi Son island will be provided with services such as boating on the Tien River and listening to folk music, visiting the beekeeping garden, visiting the coconut candy oven, taking a boat trip in the canopy of nipa… and eating specialties.
“The number of pre-booked guests is already a lot, not only in Ho Chi Minh City, but also in groups from further afield. Then there are groups that come without a reservation and cannot refuse, so there are times when they are overloaded. “, in charge of communication of a tourist area on the banks of the Tien River in Ben Tre province.

As noted, in the past 2 days, the wharfs to welcome tourists on the Tien river section near Rach Mieu bridge sometimes appear congested, a large number of guests have to wait. There are sections of canals for tourism exploitation, where boats and boats are crowded. However, due to the psychological preparation, visitors did not show any displeasure.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Suong – a tourist from Binh Duong down to Ben Tre for a holiday shared: “My family has 4 people who plan to come down here to hang out for 3 or 4 days. When I go to tourist attractions, I see too many guests. Even the staff showed fatigue. The places to eat and rest had to be jostled, one person just got up and someone else sat down right away.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nam – a tourist from Dong Nai said that his family initially planned to go to Vung Tau for a holiday, but was afraid of being too crowded, so he moved to Tien Giang. Unexpectedly, when going to the West, apart from the prolonged traffic jam, the tourist spots were also overloaded. Planning to go on vacation for 4 days but did not want to be jostled, so Nam’s family decided to return early.
The development of the tourism industry has created jobs for many workers, especially the elderly and unemployed in rural areas. On Thoi Son islet alone, the tourist boating alone employs hundreds of workers. The large number of tourists makes the restaurant services also have conditions to develop.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tu (64 years old, living on Thoi Son island) said that she and her daughter do not have jobs, so they join the tourist boating team.
Normally, she can only take one ferry a day, but today she can take 5 trips. Those who are healthy have guests rowing from morning to evening, each boat trip is also given extra money by guests, so on holidays the boatman also has a good income.
