Firefighters discovered the old man was still alive in the morgue in Shanghai

Newspaper South China Morning Post (SCMP) on May 2 quoted a video circulating on Chinese social media showing two men, apparently morgue workers, with a yellow body bag outside the Shanghai Welfare Hospital. Hai Xinchangzheng in Putuo District on May 1.

Inside the bag was an elderly man who used to live in an aged care center in Shanghai.

Two morgue workers wearing protective suits unlocked the bag in front of a hospital employee and confirmed the patient was still alive. Hospital staff then checked the man in the bag for signs of life and then zipped it up despite protests that the patient would suffocate. This person then returned to the hospital to discuss, and finally, they brought the bag containing the “body” back to the hospital.

The incident shocked many Shanghai residents. The Putuo district authorities announced an investigation and pledged to severely punish those involved, according to Chinese state television. CCTV.

SCMP The patient has been admitted to the hospital and is in stable condition. The Shanghai Care Center – established in 1983 with a capacity of more than 100 elderly people – has apologized for the incident.
