Huge fire destroyed a row of shops in Hong Bang district, Hai Phong
The fire broke out at about 8am this morning (May 2), at a row of shops on Hong Bang Street (So Dau Ward, Hong Bang District, Hai Phong), right next to the intersection of Nam Binh Bridge. This is a temporary building of level 4; The front is divided into 7 restaurants, the back is an accommodation for workers working at a nearby construction site.
According to residents, the fire and black smoke came from the back of the house, then quickly spread to the whole row.
Anh Son, a restaurant owner in a row of restaurants said: “Fire from behind. Workers go to work, so, unfortunately, there is an electrical short. I was making food in the opposite direction, but I didn’t have time to run when I saw it. Run a few gas cylinders.”
Hong Bang district police (Hai Phong) sent many fire trucks and fire prevention forces to the scene, quickly extinguishing the fire. However, due to the strong wind, the row of houses was roofed with cold corrugated iron, inside there were many flammable items, so the fire quickly caught on, making firefighting work difficult.
By about 9 a.m., the fire was under control, however, the row of shops and inns behind had been burned down. The functional forces continued to spray water to cool the interior area to prevent the fire from re-igniting and spreading to the surrounding area.
It is known that the back row of houses has about 30-40 workers renting. This morning, all workers went to work or had a holiday, at the time the fire broke out, no one was at home.
