At the 2022 AFC Champions League, HAGL fell into a difficult group when they had to face Jeonbuk (the defending champion of Korea), Yokohama F. Marinos (the runner-up of Japan) and Sydney FC (the runner-up of Australia). However, the representative of Vietnam left many impressions.
