What is ABS brake system?

ABS stands for the phrase “Anti-lock brake system” meaning anti-lock braking system, commonly used in cars and large displacement vehicles and is now becoming a standard safety device designed Designed for many popular scooter models (Honda SH, Vespa Sprint, Piaggio Liberty…).

It can be said that this is one of the great advances of technology, bringing high application efficiency to users. Up to now, the working principle of ABS is still as basic as it was in the beginning, but it is still the most advanced and safest braking technology installed in cars.

Steps to handle when ABS brakes have problems

Step 1

Put the key in the ignition and turn on / off the engine to see if the ABS light on the dashboard is on. This can solve brake problems by resetting the code stored in memory. If the problem persists, take the vehicle to an auto repair shop. Here, the scanner will be used to connect to the ABS controller. This controller will locate and correct the code.

Step 2

Clean the front wheel sensors if the ABS brakes vibrate at low speeds. If you can’t do it yourself, you’ll need to take your car to a mechanic to have the sensors cleaned properly.

Step 3

Apply pressure to the ABS brake if braking but the vehicle does not stop. Specifically, check the master cylinder brake fluid to see if it is almost empty and fill it up to the marked level if necessary. This can also be an indication that there is air in the hydraulic system. Therefore, draining the brake air (draining brake fluid) will help solve the problem. Note that the process of changing brake fluid needs to be of the right type, quantity and most importantly, clean.

If you hear a rattling noise when you apply the brake, replace loose or damaged front parts. The last resort is to bring the car to the nearest repair shop to have the problem fixed.
