The Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam calculates the socialization of 4 aircraft repair areas at Long Thanh airport, with a capital of more than 2,700 billion VND

Accordingly, the aircraft maintenance areas at the Long Thanh airport project proposed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam not only meet Vietnamese standards, but also European and American standards.

These aircraft maintenance areas provide maintenance services for popular aircraft operating in Vietnam and the world such as Boeing B787, B777, B737; Airbus A330, A350, A321, A320…

Preliminary total cost of each project is about 688 billion VND (total investment of 4 zones is more than 2,750 billion VND), mobilized by capital from socialization investors.

Each project is expected to be implemented within 24 months from the effective date of the project contract, the expected exploitation time is 25 years from the date of putting into use.

According to a report by the Ministry of Transport at the end of March, the investment component projects to build the above 4 aircraft maintenance areas have not been able to be implemented, because the site has not been handed over by the locality. The implementation of the investment calling procedure can only proceed after the locality hands over and grants the Certificate of land use right to the Southern Airport Authority.

Currently, there are many domestic and foreign businesses, especially Vietnamese airlines, that have proposed to the Ministry of Transport to participate in providing ground services, including technical services for aircraft maintenance at the airport project. Long Thanh. Notably, Vietnam Airlines, when it proposed to invest in ground service provision items such as aviation fuel supply, ground engineering, catering, cargo terminal, aviation logistics center; Business lounge, duty-free sales… The total investment of these services of Vietnam Airlines is expected to pour into Long Thanh airport more than 9,900 billion VND, of which 70% is loan. In the period 2015 – 2019, the above services at airports have brought Vietnam Airlines more than 5,074 billion dong in profit, so the airline is very confident in its ability to succeed when investing in Long Thanh airport.

According to the Prime Minister’s approval, investment projects in aviation and non-aviation services at Long Thanh airport will be tendered to ensure fairness and transparency.
