According to the newspaper Khmer TimesPrime Minister Samdech Hun Sen asked the Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) to work with relevant ministries and sectors to plan to bring the delegation to Cambodia. Sport Cambodia to Vietnam to attend the 31st SEA Games by including a private plane.

At the 31st SEA Games, Cambodia had 237 athletes competing in 32 sports out of 40 at the Games. In 2019, Cambodia won 4 gold medals, 6 silver medals, 36 bronze medals, ranking 8th overall.
