Having her legs amputated after fleeing a trafficker in China, the girl rose to become a speaker

The journey of running away in the white snow

Born into a poor family in Pung village (Muong Ai commune, Ky Son mountainous district, Nghe An province), Ms. Lu Thi Tim could not afford to eat and go to school. Her childhood was associated with farming work to support her parents and the dream of a prosperous life.

Because of that simple and simple dream, at the age of 25, she was tricked by human traffickers into China because she thought she would be taken to Vientiane (Laos) to do brocade embroidery with a salary. generously.

“I was locked up with a lot of other women. They were fooled just like I was. These guys told me that in a few days some Chinese men would come to ‘see the eyes.’ They said they had to obey or not. I’m going to fight. I’m very scared right now, but I think I have to run away or I’ll never have a chance again,” said Tim.

Having a quick mind, at first, Mrs. Tim obediently listened to the traffickers, while in her mind constantly plotted to find a way to escape.

At night is also when the traffickers let their guard down, so she successfully climbed the wall to get out. However, in a foreign land, the night was more obscure, Ms. Tim was completely disoriented, she ran away without looking back.

She ran away in the cold weather with bare feet and only thin clothes on her body. She got lost in a snow-covered forest. That girl kept walking aimlessly in the snowy forest for many days until her legs lost feeling to the point of fainting.

Fortunately, there were 2 elderly indigenous people passing by and saw her lying in the snow and brought her home. Traffickers could not defeat her, but because of that, she lost both legs.

“Doctors have diagnosed that my legs are frozen like ice, blood can’t circulate for a long time. And they decided to amputate my legs to preserve my life,” Mrs. Tim sadly told the newspaper. above.

After curing her legs and preserving her life, the mountain girl was sent to live in a camp for the homeless but could not communicate with anyone because she could not speak Chinese. After that, the police here brought a Vietnamese person to translate and talk to her.

Ms. Tim told Health & Life PV: “When I heard the voice of my hometown, I cried with joy, hugged the interpreter for help. More surprisingly, about a week later, the person at the center called me to answer the phone. Holding the phone to my ear, it was like losing my limbs because it was my father’s voice. Hearing my father’s voice was speechless, I could only cry.

Exactly 6 years after being tricked into selling to China, in August 2017, the young girl from Pong village was allowed to set foot in her homeland of Vietnam. The joy and sorrow when returning home with a disability could not be described in words, Purple could only cry.

Overcoming adversity

Overcoming the guilt because she is now disabled, Lu Thi Tim still thinks that her return is a miracle, so she tells herself that she must rise up so as not to help God allow her to be reborn for the second time.

“Actually, on the first days of returning, I was very self-conscious. Because now that I have amputated two legs, I can’t do anything else. But the warm arms of my parents extended to help me change my mind. , determined to live a good life”, Ms. Tim told the reporter.

Thanks to her talent in embroidery from a young age, even though she lost her legs, Purple still successfully built her own brand of brocade embroidery.

Ms. Lu Thi Bien (Ms. Tim’s mother) told Health & Life newspaper: “Tim also no longer feels guilty about amputated legs. Purple also has a new “vocation” which is “a public speaker” about victims of poverty. Human trafficking to raise awareness of people in this remote forest.”

When the above reporter asked more about her extraordinary efforts to pursue “the profession of a speaker”, Ms. Tim happily said: “I also just added my voice to warn the sisters in this highland about the tricks of Every time the anti-trafficking club is active, the district Women’s Union wants me to tell my story of “real people, real things” when being cheated and after being freed, return to the village to I have today to listen to women in villages in the commune to help them stay alert and not be as easily deceived as I used to be.”

Speaker Lu Thi Tim only spoke a few times and became famous throughout the village of Pung. Anyone who listens to Purple’s story once will always remember it because the way she told it was attractive but also very moving. Purple has taken the tears of many people.

While working as an embroiderer and a speaker to prevent human trafficking, Purple is happy with this life even though her legs are gone. However, deep in that woman’s soul is a feeling that she can’t tell anyone: Purple wishes to wear a skirt once.

“Vinh often told me how good it would be to have prosthetic legs. Unfortunately, in this border area, the family knows where to find the legs for Purple. One day, when he heard the voice of selling skirts at the top of the village, he leaned over and said. “Mommy buys me a dress. When I have my legs back, I’ll let my mother see.” I was dumbfounded when I heard Tim say that it was only because the traffickers ruined my child’s life”, Ms. Bien said tearfully with PV Health & Life. living.
