Malaysia applies technology to durian farming

“This technology has really helped farmers to increase the yield and quality of durian. We’re using sensors to measure nutrients, moisture, pH and even temperature of the soil. From that, we’re working on that. get the amount of water and fertilizer needed for plants in each specific area,” said Mr. Tan Han Wei, Regaltech Company.

Thanks to the application of smart technologies such as the Internet of Things and Big Data, productivity at durian farms in Malaysia has improved significantly. Currently, many farmers have boldly applied new technologies to farming.

“Our farm’s productivity has increased by 30%. Thanks to the application of smart technology, human costs are significantly reduced. The shape and size of durians have also become more balanced. a lot,” said Mr. Sam Leong, owner of the durian farm.

In the past five years, Malaysia’s durian exports have doubled. In 2021, the export of this item brought the country about 35 million USD.
