As one of 8 electronic sports (eSports) included in SEA Games 31, Lien Quan Mobile promises to bring eye-catching matches. Representing Vietnam at SEA Games 31 is a name very familiar to the Lien Quan community – Saigon Phantom (abbreviated: SGP). For the first time attending the biggest sports festival in Southeast Asia that Vietnam hosted, the SGP boys showed their determination to win the championship.

Before the opening “G hour” of SEA Games 31, we had a quick interview with Saigon Phantom:

Hello Saigon Phantom boys,

First, Saigon Phantom would like to reintroduce its members so that readers can better understand the team.

Hello everyone, we are team Saigon Phantom, the representative of Vietnam at this 31st SEA Games. Our team currently has 7 members including very young members, the oldest was born in 1997, and the youngest was born in 2003.

Remember Saigon Phantom having a convincing victory against V Gaming to win the right to represent Vietnam at SEA Games 31. How are your feelings then and now?

We ourselves were quite happy, our emotions overflowed because we were able to defeat such a strong opponent as VGM at that time. At the moment, there is a bit of excitement because soon they will be wearing the national team shirt to compete in the biggest sports tournament in Southeast Asia.

Particularly for Yiwei, the camera captured the moment you burst into tears when the words “Victory” appeared in the match against V Gaming. Will you be “stuck” again if Saigon Phantom touches the SEA Games gold cup?

This is difficult to say, it is a temporary emotion. Maybe the next time the person crying won’t be me, but Lai Bang for example.

After officially winning tickets to the 31st SEA Games, how has Saigon Phantom planned to rest and practice for the past 2 months?

We still practice normally because we are still competing in a domestic tournament, in the past few days, the training schedule has been a bit more to prepare new games against strong opponents. At the same time, the team is still resting, taking their eyes off the game to relax. Every day, the members spend about 2-3 hours a day doing sports and exercising.

What did DIH Esports learn about the opponent’s eSports team Lien Quan Mobile, which team or member makes SGP the most wary?

The representative of Thailand is definitely the No. 1 opponent. They and I have faced each other a lot, it is expected that this will be another fiery battle between the two sides. Saigon Phantom’s goal in this SEA Games will definitely be the gold medal!

Before SEA Games 31, what other domestic and international tournaments did Saigon Phantom participate in? What is the team’s performance?

About 3 years ago, Saigon Phantom has always been in the top of the domestic tournaments: We have reached the final 4 times and won the championship 2 times. As for the international tournament, the team’s highest achievement is the runner-up in the tournament in 2020, unfortunately, it still has not had the grace to reach the highest position in the international arena.

According to the plan, when will the team go to Hanoi and all preparations for accommodation and meals have been OK?

As expected, right after the domestic Arena of Fame tournament ends, the team will go to Hanoi to prepare for the SEA Games. Currently, the organizers have helped and discussed with Saigon Phantom quite a lot in the preparation and accommodation in the near future.

In addition to the sharing so far, does Saigon Phantom have anything more to say to Lien Quan Mobile gamers in general and its fans in particular?

SGP will try its best not to disappoint the fans. The team always tries and achieves many high achievements not only at this SEA Games but also in the future.
