At a press conference last night, on May 2, director Tran Huu Tan and producer Hoang Quan officially announced a new theatrical film project, titled “Tet in Hell Village“. The film is adapted from the horror novel of the same name by author Thao Trang.
The novel “Tet in Hell Village” was released in 2022 and caused a community fever thanks to its engaging writing style and thrilling content, combining many details of Vietnamese folklore.
Right from the first publication, this horror novel has reached 40,000 copies, 3 times more than a regular book and reached the top 11 best-selling books of the week.
Producer Hoang Quan shared:Right from the moment I picked up the book and read about 20 pages, I personally and many friends couldn’t put the book down until the end.
The content of Tet in Hell Village is not only particularly attractive, but also very full and rich in the colors of Vietnamese beliefs and culture. There has never been a work that has made me feel so excited and captivated.
When working on this project, we want to continue to dig into Vietnamese folklore and share this story with domestic and international audiences.”

As for director Tran Huu Tan, he said: “Unlike other horror stories that only focus on elements of violence and gore, in this novel the author instills fear and terror in readers by describing the deaths and cruelty of demons. through details imbued with folklore and highland spirituality.
Then I talked to Trang. After many exchanges back and forth, the producer and I reached an agreement to adapt the novel into a movie“.
“Tet in Hell Village” is the 4th project of director Tran Huu Tan and producer Hoang Quan after “Bac Kim Thang”, “Forest of the World” and “Ghost story near home”. The film is expected to be filmed at the end of 2022 and released in 2023.
