According to Dr. Nguyen Minh Tien, deputy director of the Children’s Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City, the first case is a 12-year-old male student living in Tan Phu district, Ho Chi Minh City. She was hospitalized because of dengue shock, respiratory failure, blood clotting disorder, liver damage.

At home, I had a high fever for 4 consecutive days, vomiting and diarrhea many times. My family thought I had a digestive disorder, so I bought medicine but it didn’t help. After that, the patient was tired, his hands and feet were cold, so he was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to the Children’s Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City.

The second case is Q. 12 years old, living in Sa Dec, Dong Thap. Q. High fever at home for 5 days, abdominal pain, vomiting of brown swine fever, fatigue, cold hands and feet, should be taken to a local hospital. At that time, Q. was diagnosed with severe hemorrhagic fever on day 5, respiratory failure, liver damage, coagulation disorder, received anti-shock fluid according to the protocol and transferred to Ho Chi Minh City.

At City Children’s Hospital, both children showed signs of shock, light fast pulse, clamped blood pressure of 90/70mmHg, shortness of breath, black stools, distended abdomen, abdominal and chest ultrasound showing peritoneal effusion, overflow moderate pleural fluid.

Blood tests showed that the children all had severe liver damage and severe blood clotting disorders. After receiving anti-shock macromolecule infusion, respiratory support with continuous positive pressure breathing, correcting blood clotting disorders for 1 week, the children are now awake and recovering.

Doctor Nguyen Minh Tien warned that the first rains of the season signal that the dengue epidemic season is near. Both medical staff and parents must not be subjective, which can lead to late detection, late arrival of the child to the hospital, and danger.

Early signs to take your child to a medical facility promptly are a high fever for more than 2 days, showing one of the following signs:

– Irritability, irritability, irritability or lethargy.

– Stomachache.

– Nosebleeds, bloody teeth or vomiting blood, black stools
