US police launched a net to catch the suspect’s car
The net on the hook attached to the front bumper of the police car clings to the rear wheel of the suspect’s car, helping to stop the pursuit safely.
The chase scene at the beginning of the video is a real situation and just happened in Arizona on April 29. The suspect crashed into several police cars before the chase and was only caught after police used a specialized device.
Specialized equipment called “grappler” once again helps US police effectively stop the suspect’s car. The “Grappler” is actually a hook with a net, attached to the front bumper of a police car. When the button is pressed, the hook will release and when it makes contact with the rear wheel of the moving vehicle, the net will wrap tightly.
The police now just need to stop the vehicle, the fleeing vehicle is caught and cannot continue. The chase ended without any collision.
“Grappler” is just one of several specialized devices with similar functions of the US police. There are also nail traps or mesh bars. But “grappler” is safer to use because it does not cause a collision, so it has little effect on the people involved as well as other road users.
