According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in April, Vietnam’s exports of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached about $4.8 billion (up 11.2% over the same period last year). In which, group agricultural main reached over 7.4 billion USD (up 10.5%); main forest products reached nearly 5.9 billion USD (up 4.9%); seafood is estimated at nearly 3.6 billion USD (up 43.7%); livestock production is estimated at 105.4 million USD (down 19%); production input group reached about 883 million USD (up 70.7%). In which, fertilizer export increased nearly 3 times, reaching about 439 million USD.

Notably, in the first 4 months of the year, there were 5 groups of products with export value of over 1 billion USD, including coffee about 1.7 billion USD, rice about 1 billion USD, vegetables and fruits reaching 1.2 billion USD. , shrimp reached 1.3 billion USD, wood products reached nearly 5.5 billion USD.

Currently, the US continues to be the largest import market of Vietnam’s agricultural, forestry and fishery products, with a value of nearly 4.9 billion USD (accounting for 27.3% of the market share). China ranked second with over 3.2 billion USD (accounting for 18.1% market share); followed by Japan with nearly 1.3 billion USD (accounting for 7.1%) and South Korea with about 822 million USD (accounting for 4.6%).

In the opposite direction, Vietnam also imported about 13.9 billion USD of agricultural, forestry and fishery products (down 2.3%). Up to now, Vietnam had a trade surplus of nearly 4 billion USD, 3.2 times higher than the same period last year.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in order to continue promoting trade activities, in May the ministry will promote the opening of agricultural product markets with other countries; providing information, market regulations, import and export control between Vietnam and China.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will prepare to organize a trade delegation to promote the supply chain of fruits and seafood in China under the national trade promotion program, and at the same time negotiate to export rambutans, lemons and pomelos from Vietnam. to New Zealand, prepare bilateral work with the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Korea and develop a project to promote the export of agro-forestry-fishery products to Europe, the US, China and Japan.
