In 2022, university tuition fees will increase by 40%.

According to Decree 81, from the academic year 2022 – 2023 to the academic year 2025 – 2026, the tuition fee ceiling for non-autonomous public higher education institutions is regulated for each sector with the level of 1.2 – 3.5. million VND/month.

Compared to the 2021-2022 school year, the tuition fee ceiling for the 2022-2023 school year has skyrocketed (except for majors II, Arts). Especially, sector VI.2 (Medicine) increased by 71.3% (currently at the ceiling of 1.43 million VND/month, it will increase to 2.45 million VND/month). Most of the remaining sectors (except for Industry II) increased by more than 20% to nearly 30%, while industry IV (Life Science, Natural Science) had a more moderate increase, 15.3%.

According to information from schools, tuition fees from next school year are expected to increase. Specifically, at Pham Ngoc Thach Medical University, the highest expected tuition fee is about 44.5 million VND for Medicine, Pharmacy, and Odonto-Stomatology. Compared with the tuition fee of 32 million VND/year in 2021, this increase has reached 40%.

Another medical and pharmaceutical training school, Hong Bang International University, is also expected to increase tuition fees.

Specifically, the tuition fee for Odonto-Stomatology of the Vietnamese language program in 2022 is 105 million VND/semester, while the old rate is 91 million VND/semester. With the training program in English, the tuition fee increased from 110 million VND/semester to 125 million VND/semester. For other majors, the increase is lighter.

Meanwhile, the University of Economics – Hanoi National University is expected to increase tuition fees for the course Admissions in 2022. The fee for the 2022-2023 school year is equivalent to VND 42 million, VND 44 million for the 2023-2024 school year, VND 46 million for the 2024-2025 school year and VND 48 million for the 2025-2026 school year. When it comes to tuition fees for the 2022-2023 school year alone, when compared to 35 million VND/year for the 2021 enrollment course, the school’s tuition fees have increased by 24.5%.

Another university with a strong increase in tuition fees is the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. From 2022, the school will innovate and be self-sufficient in tuition fees, so the school’s tuition fee is expected to increase from 16-60 million VND/year. Specifically, the tuition fee for social science majors is from 16-20 million VND/student/school year; The tuition fee for language and tourism majors is from 21-24 million VND/student/school year. The tuition fee for a high-quality program (according to actual costs) is 3 times higher than the ceiling fee for a university-level training program, which is expected to be 60 million VND/student/year.

At the University of Economics and Finance in Ho Chi Minh City, the tuition fee for the 2022 enrollment course is expected to be 64-72 million VND/year (depending on the major). Meanwhile, at Hoa Sen University, the tuition fee for the 2022 school year with 33 majors and 10 regular university-level training programs will range from 80-85 million VND/school year. Particularly for the dual degree program, the average fee will be 85.5 million VND/year; Hoa Sen Elite will have a tuition fee of 115-120 million VND/year.
