Interview with Shin Min Ah

Shin Min Ah and Kim Woo Bin is a couple that is too familiar to the audience who love Korean movies. The love story that overcame a serious illness and fought with the God of Death made the two of them one of the golden couples that the audience looked forward to the most wedding in Korean showbiz. Unfortunately at the present time, they love each other quietly, rarely mentioning each other in the media, even the joint movie project. Our Blues also plays two characters from two different stories.

The present time, when Our Blues is attracting attention on social networks, continuously recording remarkable achievements, we had the opportunity to chat with this passionate couple to hear them share about the film project.

For me, happiness is…

Writer Our Blues once shared that if Shin Min Ah and Kim Woo Bin were invited to play a pair, they would certainly not agree. The only way to see them in the same project is what was, is happening and will continue to happen in Our Blues. Because the film has a large cast, the moment of appearing together in a frame is almost nonexistent, but that’s enough for the couple’s fans to feel warm…

Working with a huge cast like Our Blues, the pressure of success, the coverage of the movie must have been great for the two of you?

Shin Min A: Given the omnibus structure of this film, the actors will feel more pressure in some aspects and less pressure in others. But anyway, we shot all of Seon Ah’s scenes from beginning to end and I didn’t feel any difference in the process of filming this movie compared to other film projects. In fact, I focused on portraying my character’s story in a consistent way, because the story the film wanted to tell was quite different.

The truth is that it’s not easy to bring together such a massive cast of actors in one project, so I found this movie very interesting and also very special. I am sure that Our Blues It will be an unforgettable memory for me. Also, I was able to focus on acting because we were working together, and that collective energy probably helped fuel each other’s acting.

Kim Woo Bin: This is a completely new and unfamiliar genre, but I quite enjoy it. I was surprised to learn that although this is a movie with many stories of many characters, it is all interconnected and I can connect with each and every one of them. It’s also great that I get to work with so many actors, although it’s not easy to get scenes that bring everyone together. We had a lot of fun and the studio was always filled with laughter and warmth in every scene where the characters met. It’s just a pity that each episode is a different story, so there are not many scenes that converge the entire cast.

Our Blues theme – “Let’s all live a happy life”, so what is your definition of happiness?

Shin Min Ah: I think happiness is being able to continue living simple days without facing great challenges.

Kim Woo Bin: Happiness is being able to live every moment with the people you love without major obstacles.

I was moved by this perfect scenario

In the drama, Kim Woo Bin plays Park Jung Joon, a captain with a love for a mysterious sea girl (Han Ji Min). Meanwhile, Shin Min Ah plays the role of a depressed wife and mother who returns to Jeju during the darkest time of her life…

Many people worry that Our Blues will be a sadder version of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, is Shin Min Ah personally afraid of repeating herself in the previous film?

I think viewers will find these two films quite similar, because both are set in the sea. Even so, the two films are not only different in terms of genre, but also in the character I play – in terms of both the personality and the situation the character faces. I hope viewers will see the difference in how I try to portray these two characters – Min Seon Ah and Yoon Hye Jin.

As for Woo Bin, it’s been a while since he returned to the screen, must this be a very attractive scenario to make you decide to return like that?

The script of this movie itself is very touching. I was moved by this perfect script alongside the writer and director – whom I have always wanted to work with. I’m also curious to see what Jung Joon’s life will be like, and especially because I think I can understand his feelings well.

Do you work with Han Ji Min the most? How was the experience working with her?

Han Ji Min is a really caring person so she always takes care of everyone on set. She even cares about my employees. I always feel grateful to her. Given the omnibus style of this movie, it’s a shame that I didn’t get to shoot many scenes with my co-star. Ji Min’s staff and my staff were also close, they were very sad when we finished filming the scenes together. They said they wanted to meet on another occasion, another project. I hope that we will be able to do that in another series.
