Lamborghini test drive Ferrari for research

ItalyThe Ferrari SF90 Stradale kept going in and out of Lamborghini’s factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese, with a different driver each time.

Lamborghini tests Ferrari supercars for research

At the moment, Lamborghini is researching and development of an alternative model Aventador. The new model will have the same plug-in hybrid system Ferrari SF90 Stradale. So the simple answer is that researching your competition when you’re starting to do something new is the right way to go.

That’s exactly how Lamborghini did it: buy the right Ferrari, and be able to know everything the competition has made. They sent people to take turns driving the SF90 on the streets near the factory.

But Lamborghini isn’t the only one who studies rivals in this way. General Motors (GM) has admitted to doing the same when developing a V8 engine with a single-plane crankshaft for the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06. But instead of buying a whole car, the American company went up eBayand spent just $25,000 on a Ferrari 458 engine, delivered to their factory in Michigan.

As for Lamborghini, this is not the first time they have tried a rival car. In April, the Italian supercar company was caught testing a Porsche 911 Turbo S (992) at the same location. CEO Stephan Winkelmann also drove an Aston Martin DBX behind a Urus.

With the Aventador replacement model, some information suggests that this supercar will appear in 2023, and still use the V12 engine, like the Aventador, Murcielago, Diablo, Countach and Miura seniors. However, it is not a pure supercar, which will be supported by an electric motor.

Lamborghini has said that it will electrify products by the end of 2024 before launching an all-electric model around 2028.
