Most current battery-powered electric motorcycles use lithium-ion batteries with very high production costs due to the use of many rare materials and dangerous mining conditions such as Cobalt, Manganese, etc. So, it often accounts for 2/3 of the car’s cost.
VinFast has successfully developed and mastered the production process of LFP batteries for application to new generation electric motorcycles.
Recently, VinFast has cooperated with partner Gotion High-Tech to successfully develop battery cells and fully master LFP battery production technology, with outstanding advantages in longevity, stability and safety. As a result, VinFast’s 5 new electric motorcycles use LFP batteries capable of traveling up to 200km per charge. VinFast is the first car company to apply LFP batteries for its product lines in the Vietnamese market.
The first advantage to mention of LFP batteries is the world’s best explosion-proof ability today. Without producing high heat when using and charging, LFP batteries are also explosion-proof even when punctured or deformed. This factor helps VinFast’s new generation electric motorbikes have higher safety than gasoline motorbikes as well as electric motorbikes using lithium-ion batteries.
The second advantage that makes the world’s electric vehicle manufacturers racing to soon own LFP battery technology is the ability to increase the travel distance. According to many scientific reports, this type of battery can help electric motorcycles increase by more than 50% the travel distance compared to using lithium-ion batteries.
In particular, the LFP battery produces stable performance during the journey, without the loss of power when the capacity is low like with batteries or lithium-ion batteries. As a result, electric motorcycles using LFP batteries will give users a driving experience similar to gasoline motorbikes even when the battery capacity is below 50%. Users will no longer feel uncomfortable because the vehicle speed is limited whenever the battery capacity is low, and the battery life is also extended.
“The short travel distance is the biggest disadvantage of electric motorbikes when compared to the 150-260km that a regular gasoline motorbike can go. With the mastery of LFP battery manufacturing technology, the travel distance is increased. Moving after each full charge to 150-200km, VinFast’s new generation of electric motorcycles can compete fairly with traditional gasoline motorbikes,” said car expert Chau Long.
The new generation VinFast electric motorbike has completely overcome the weakness in travel distance compared to gasoline motorbikes thanks to the use of LFP technology batteries.
VinFast Feliz S, Klara S (2022), Vento S and Theon S have now started accepting deposits, with prices ranging from VND 29.9 to VND 69.9 million. Customers who deposit 2 million VND/car from now until the end of May 31, 2022 will receive a 12-month battery subscription package with no limit to the number of kilometers traveled by VinFast. It is expected that the two models of Feliz S and Klara S (2022) will begin to be delivered from May, while the Vento S and Theon S will be delivered in June. The all-new Evo 200 model will be officially announced. Deposit book in August 2022.
