Vietnam Education Publishing House has just announced the new price of textbooks for grades 3, 7, 10, applicable from the school year 2022-2023. Compared with current books, the price of these new books is 2-3 times higher.

Many people believe that the increase in the price of textbooks next school year will really be a pressure and burden for parents, especially in ethnically and economically difficult areas.

The family has 3 children of school age, in previous years, Ms. Nguyen Ha Nhi (Chong Khanh district, Cao Bang) often asked for books from older students in the village for her children to study, but in the last 2 years, she has studied the program. New general education, so at the beginning of every year, she has a headache about buying a new set of books for her child.

“My husband and I only work in the fields and fields. If we have more free time, we can collect firewood to sell, but the income is not much. Last year, my 2nd grade daughter had to buy a set of nearly 500,000 books, including reference books, and her family had to beg the school until almost half of the second semester to pay for the textbooks.

This year, when I heard that the 3rd graders were learning new books again, the price of the books increased more than 2 times than the current textbooks, so it was very difficult for a large family with children in a remote area like my house. I just hope the Publishing House has a plan to subsidize prices for poor families with many children like us,” Nhi said.

“In my opinion, we should be the owner of the school to build a bookcase for students in remote and difficult areas. And schools across the country should encourage students to donate after 1 year of use. library creation field.

From this source, the school will lend books to students of the next course. If 30% of students donate books a year, after a few years 100% of students will not have to buy books. Parents do not need to buy books at the beginning of the school year but use school books, just buying exercise books will also help parents save some money”, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Xuan Nhi said.
