Fortunately, this 2022 is also the first year that a team led by 2 Vietnamese has the opportunity to participate in the operation of an important link at this event.
The first person is the designer Peter Do. Hi Duke, can you briefly share your chance to come to Met Gala 2022?
I joined as a film producer for Peter Do. This is the first year the brand has appeared at the Met Gala through 2. guests, Eva Chen and Johnny Suh. I followed them closely from the moment of fitting (try on) at the studio until the moment I put on the complete outfit and strode on the red carpet.
How much time does the process of preparing the guests for the party usually take?
Most of the guests have a team to come up with ideas 1 or more months in advance. On the day of the event, which is the first Monday of May, each team gathered at hotels near the MET Institute from very early in the morning. Here they begin a process that includes: final dress testing, make-up, hairdo and press interviews.
In the afternoon, they will officially dress up and take photos in the field studios right in the hotel. The whole process takes about 7 to 8 hours. Like my team has been at The Mark hotel since 11 am. Most of the guests are staying here, except for those who already have a home in New York.

Is the pressure of this first time great for Duke?
I was also mentally prepared, but surprisingly, I was very happy and comfortable. Maybe it’s because the Team and the stars I work with are all cute. Johnny Suh’s team is so cute, they even gave me their newest album!
Did any incident happen?
We all got stuck on the stairs!!! Because there are so many stars, everyone is accompanied by a crowded crowd and also a group of photographers and videographers from Vogue, radio and television channels, etc., so the hotel’s elevator is clogged. unable to breathe. Many people have to run quickly.
Like me and my crew, to get to the 16th floor in time for the shooting, we had to carry the equipment and run the stairs from the 10th floor. Both men and women climbed the stairs tiredly, everyone was struggling to “hold their breath”.
What does Duke think about the theme of the Met Gala 2022 and who do you think is the most beautiful?
The nostalgia of this year’s theme is somewhat safe. The most beautiful, I see Kim Kardashian and Hailey Bieber. Blake Lively was also impressed.

May I ask if there is a situation where the star is photographed “under water” like in Vietnam?
Yes (laughs). But most of the images on this side are censored by the editors, so most of the “underwater” situation is limited. Sometimes surfing the net, I still see many “soul” pictures!
Having worked with both Vietnamese and American teams, can Duke highlight the difference?
Honestly, working with Team USA is more stressful because they plan very closely but also requires high improvisation. Besides, Vietnam is not strict in the issue of image copyright.
