Accordingly, in the women’s weightlifting event, only Indonesia and Thailand registered to compete, and in the men’s hammer throwing event, only Thailand and Malaysia participated. According to the regulations of the Southeast Asian Sports Council, because the above 2 contents do not have enough teams of at least 3 participating countries to register, they will be canceled.

With the previous women’s beach handball content being canceled for the same reason, the number of events competing at the 31st SEA Games will be reduced to 523 instead of 526 as originally.

At the 31st SEA Games, the Vietnamese sports delegation attended with 1,341 members, including: 951 athletes (532 women, 419 men); 250 coaches; 30 experts.

Athletics is the team with the largest number of 65 athletes, competing in 40/45 events, aiming to win 16-17 gold medals at the 31st SEA Games.
