Rosa’s funeral was held in the city of Lambayque, Peru on April 23. At the beginning of the ceremony, those present suddenly heard a noise coming from the young girl’s coffin.

Rosa’s relatives, who were lifting the coffin to their shoulders, immediately lowered and opened the lid to check, finding Rosa with her eyes open and looking directly at them. “She opened her eyes and was sweating. I immediately went to my office and called the police.” Cemetery caretaker Juan Segundo Cajo said.

Those present at the funeral were surprised to find that the girl in the coffin opened her eyes and sweated.

Metro newspaper reported, the girl’s family then immediately carried the coffin to Ferrenafe Hospital in Lambayeque. Doctors quickly administered life-support measures to Rosa, but she passed away a few hours later.

The young girl’s family indignantly demanded that the hospital explain the reason for declaring Rosa dead in the first place. Relatives of Rosa believe she likely fell into a coma after the accident, leading doctors to assume she was dead.

“We wanted to know why my niece reacted yesterday, when we took her to the burial. We have videos of her pushing and knocking on the coffin.” Rosa’s aunt told local media. The case is currently being investigated by the Peruvian police.
