Akihiko Kondo, the Japanese guy who was in the spotlight in 2018 when he married the hologram of virtual singer Hatsune Miku, has revealed that he can no longer talk to his wife.
According to an article on Mainichi Shinbun, Kondo is famous for his official marriage to a world-famous virtual hologram character, produced by technology company Gatebox. While this marriage is not recognized by Japanese law, Kondo spent about 2 million yen (about $17,300) on the wedding ceremony and invited only 39 close friends to the ceremony, without the presence of her groom’s family. Unfortunately for the couple, in 2020, Gatebox will stop providing AI services for holograms, causing previous AI-powered holograms to connect to the internet with a central server to work, similar to how Alexa.
