Tesla CEO (CEO) just acquired the social network giant Twitter for $44 billion. In that context, the American billionaire suddenly received an invitation to the British parliament “to present to MPs in detail his vision for Twitter” – radio station. RT of Russia on May 5 said.

The invitation was written by MP Julian Knight, who heads the UK Parliament’s Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee.

“My committee has noted your proposal to acquire Twitter and we are interested in the ideas you propose,” read the text of Knight’s letter to Congressman. Elon Musk there was a paragraph, adding that the appearance would give Musk the opportunity to present “in more depth” his ideas for the development of Twitter.

In a separate statement, MP Knight went on to say that British lawmakers “want to better understand Musk’s evolving ideas, including his commitment to protect Twitter users from online harm”.

In response, the CEO of SpaceX told the news agency AP said it was “very honored by the invitation” but “it will be too soon to accept” as Twitter shareholders have yet to vote on the $44 billion deal.

Knight’s letter also comes at a time when British parliamentarians are considering the “Safety Online” bill. This bill gives regulators powers to control social media and other internet platforms.

The bill’s content would force major websites to authenticate users’ identities and give them the option to avoid interacting with unverified accounts.

Musk has previously stated that he wants Twitter to “authenticate all users” but did not elaborate on how.

Billionaire Elon Musk now has more than 80 million followers on Twitter since joining in 2009 and has used the platform to make various announcements. Before becoming the new boss, the richest person in the world (according to Forbes), owned nearly 9.2% of Twitter shares and also helped this social network stock increase 27%.
