Launching the program to bring inventions to market season 2

The program season 2 (Lab2Market) was launched, connecting the commercialization of inventions and technology transfer in universities to the market.

On the afternoon of May 5, the Incubation program to bring inventions to market concluded season 1 and kicked off season 2. Lab2Market is an incubation program that brings out leading inventions and scientific research results in Vietnamese universities. market. BK Holdings (Hanoi University of Science and Technology) in collaboration with Hanoi Polytechnic Innovative Startup Investment Fund (BK Fund), National Center for Creative Startup Support (NSSC), Swiss Startup Program Swiss EP) co-hosted.

According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Dung, General Director of BK Holdings, researchers’ products often find it difficult to find a “common voice” with the reality of the market. This is why Lab2Market was formed, to bring inventions to market, help researchers understand and strategize, and receive investment opportunities to develop their products and businesses.

“The program initially approached more than 100 research groups, interviewed 20 groups to select 12 groups of incubation phase I, then selected 4 groups to build for season 2,” Dung said.

First debut In 2021, the program accompanies 12 research groups and inventors with the goal of commercializing products. In season one, 50% of the groups have registered for business, 20 groups have won national and regional awards, and 40% of the groups have invested and connected businesses. “The first incubator program for scientists with a high technology content,” Dung said, and hopes to inspire the second season of research teams with more achievements.

As the author of 40 patents participating in Lab2Market, Mr. Do Duc Thang (Hanoi) said that the value of intellectual property is increasing and being focused. However, “lab language with the market has a huge gap”. Inventions will be at the provable level and stop at research if not brought to market. Therefore, Mr. Thang assessed, the incubation program has given researchers the opportunity to receive investment opportunities to develop products.

The formation of a sustainable ecosystem for scientists also becomes the basis for Lab2market to give direction in the next season, towards potential research groups as well as to different sectors of the scientific market. technology.

Jen Vu Huong, Program and Community Development Manager and BK Holdings, and Lab2Market program development director, said that season two accompanies the research teams to go further in their journey from the lab to the lab. market. The program connects with markets in Canada, Australia and the networks of BK Holdings, BK Fun. “Season two helps groups evaluate intellectual property, combine schools to transfer technology and commercialize inventions,” said Ms. Huong.
