Please adopt a child to bring to China to sell

On May 5, the Family and Juvenile Court (Ho Chi Minh City People’s Court) opened a first-instance trial against defendants Tran Thi Tinh (40 years old, native of Vinh Phuc), Nguyen Thi Hoi (40 years old, living in Vietnam). Thai Nguyen) and Doong Tai Mui (46 years old, from Quang Ninh province) were charged with the crime of “trafficking in people under the age of 16”.

According to the prosecution, as a member of the Facebook page “Find and adopt children”, Tinh knew the Association and a man named Quang (whose identity is unknown).

Due to difficult circumstances, no job, no income, but having to raise 2 small children, Ms. Ngo Thi T. (living in Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province) intends to give up Kh. (now 21 days old) adopted someone else so that he can have a better life.

On January 13, 2021, Ms. T. went to the Facebook page “Find and adopt children” and posted information with the content “Currently it is difficult to afford to raise children, anyone who needs to adopt, please contact”.

After reading Ms. T.’s information, Tinh said that Hoi was going to ask Ms. T. to adopt Kh. and then hand the baby over to Tinh, Tinh will give the guild money. The association accepted the invitation and then texted Ms. T to hand over Kh. Let me raise you and promise to treat you like your own son.

Because of the difficult situation, the Association promised 30 million VND, so Ms. T. agreed. After that, Hoi made an appointment with Ms. T. to bring Kh. to Tan Son Nhat Airport (HCMC) to deliver to me. Next, the Association called to inform Tinh.

Knowing that Hoi had obtained Kh., Tinh called Quang to tell him that someone wanted to give a 21-day-old baby boy at a cost of 33 million VND from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. Quang agrees.

At 7:00 am on January 14, 2021, Ms. T rented a car to take her son to Tan Son Nhat Airport to hand it over to the Association and received 22 million VND and an Iphone 6S plus phone.

The Association used the birth certificate of P.’s grandchild P. (adopted son of the Association) to carry out airline procedures for Kh. to avoid detection.

Bring the child Kh. Returning to Hanoi, Tinh called to inform Quang, and was instructed by Quang to take the baby down to Binh Lieu district, Quang Ninh province, and deliver it to Mui.

The next day, Tinh took a bus to take Kh. to deliver to Mui. After that, Mui used the Wechat network to exchange with a Chinese woman (whose identity is unknown) to make an agreement and then sell Kh. for this woman.

After handing over her son to the Association, Ms. T. could not contact this woman, so on January 15, 2021, Ms. T. went to Tan Son Nhat Border Gate Police Station to report the incident.

With the mobilization of the police agency, Mui contacted the Chinese woman to ask for her grandchild Kh. On January 19, 2021, the baby was returned to his biological parents.

After deliberation, the trial panel sentenced defendants Tinh to 12 years, Hoi to 10 years, and Mui 8 to 8 years in prison.
