According to Dr. Lam Le Phuong, Head of Pediatrics Department of Hoan My Saigon Hospital, nasal foreign body is a common disease in ENT emergency, especially common in children. Some objects in the nose have the ability to move down the mouth and there is a risk of being swallowed, even being inhaled into the airways, causing airway foreign bodies.

“Foreign objects in the nose for a long time will cause nasal ulcers and sinusitis. With foreign objects containing chemicals, such as electronic batteries, it should be taken within 4 hours. If left for a long time, it will cause mucosal ulcers, bleeding, perforation of the nasal septum, causing scarring and pulling, which is not life-threatening,” advised Dr. Phuong.
