Authorities in the breakaway Donetsk Republic have accused Ukrainian forces of destroying four storage tanks and killing one person. Four oil storage tanks caught fire after Ukrainian forces allegedly shelled the city of Makeyevka in the Donetsk Republic, local authorities reported on Wednesday.

Up to 10 people were injured in the incident, local authorities said.

According to the Donetsk Territorial Guard, each tank can hold up to 5,000 cubic meters of oil. Footage and photos released by authorities showed thick plumes of black smoke rising from the burning oil depot. The Defense Forces advised residents of Donetsk and Makeevka to close their windows and stay indoors.

Meanwhile, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said that the Russian military used long-range precision weapons to destroy six traction substations on the railway line used to supply weapons and American- and European-made ammunition for the Ukrainian army in the Donbass.
