Woman with autism dies rotting in the house

American media recently continuously reported on a serious case, in which the victim was a 36-year-old woman with autism. In the latest move, the police arrested the victim’s biological parents. From there, open the “heavenly” secret in that house full of love.

Concussion detection

Lacey Fletcher’s body was discovered half-naked on January 3, earlier this year. She sat upright on the sofa placed in the living room of her house in the town of Slaughter, Louisiana (USA). The scene left a haunting impression for the police. The sofa was completely sunken because Lacey had been sitting for so long and the decomposing body was in the same spot.

According to investigators, the woman’s body was covered with urine, liquid feces, maggots and insects. Lacey at that time weighed just over 40kg. She developed severe sores all over her body and tested positive for Covid-19.

Ewell Dewitt Bickham III, head of East Feliciana Parish, declared Lacey’s death a homicide.

“Her cause of death stems from at least a decade of neglect and lack of medical help.”Mr. Ewell told WAFB TV channel.

The Daily Mail, citing sources, said Lacey had not seen a doctor in 20 years and had several neighbors who did not know the Fletcher family had a daughter.

The Fletchers took Lacey to a psychiatrist in 2010. She was diagnosed with severe autism when she refused to leave the sofa.

Sheriff Jeffery Travis said: “Intervention should have been done long before the tragedy. How could they let their loved one rot like that? It’s hard to imagine, how a human could have could be in such a horrible situation without family or friends to support.”

The truth about a noble and noble couple

On May 4, a series of American newspapers reported that a grand jury had decided to indict the couple Clay and Shiela Fletcher in connection with Lacey’s death. These two were charged with second-degree murder for neglecting their daughter.

However, they were not present in court on Monday (May 2) and have not appeared outside since the news of their daughter’s tragic death was revealed in the media.

The Fletchers have long been considered “respectable people” in their community.

Sheila Fletcher (64 years old) was the one who called 911 to announce that her daughter had stopped breathing. The deputy regional police chief, Mr. Bickham, was dispatched to the home and discovered the gruesome scene.

“The scene was horrible. I’ve seen some terrible things in my life, but I’ve never seen anything like this.” Mr. Bickham said. At the same time, adding that pieces of sofa leather were stuck on Lacey’s smelly body.

“Her parents are in the kitchen. They don’t have a clear explanation.” he said. “I couldn’t swallow food for a week. I cried all week, every time I think about it.”

Lacey’s death became an even bigger mystery when it was revealed that Sheila Fletcher had sought help from the authorities to help her daughter. But somehow, in the end, Lacey was still left to die in such a bad state.

Sheila Fletcher served as a police officer and court clerk in the nearby city of Baker. Recently, she also held the position of assistant to the city prosecutor. She was also on the Board of Directors of Slaughter’s Alderman but resigned on January 24, 3 weeks after Lacey’s body was discovered.

As for the father, Mr. Clay Fletcher (65 years old) was an employee of the non-profit organization Baton Rouge Civil War. The organization’s mission is to “educate and foster gratitude for the sacrifices made during the Civil War”.

In a statement through their attorney, Sheila and Clay Fletcher said they did not want “to ease the pain of losing a child through the media”.

Fletcher’s attorney, Steven Moore, said: “They’ve been through a lot of pain over the years. Anyone who has lost a child knows how bad it feels.”

The Fletchers released a statement around 2011 or 2012 that Lacey didn’t want to leave the house and never seemed to complain about sitting still.

The couple say Lacey lay still on a couch or on a nearby towel, and her mother regularly checks for sores on her daughter’s body. It’s unclear when the last time Lacey left that chair was. Lacey developed Asperger’s syndrome after finishing 9th grade.

Currently, the Fletcher couple are facing life in prison for neglecting their daughter.
