44 manhole covers on Thu Thiem 2 bridge were stolen

According to information from the construction unit of Thu Thiem 2 bridge, there are more than 44 manhole covers on the bridge deck that have been pry, suspected of being stolen. There are signs of ploughing on the surface of the culvert, located close to the walkway. Due to the lack of lids, garbage and plastic bags have been drifted to the bottom.

Currently, the Center for Management of Road Traffic Infrastructure has requested the police to verify, investigate and handle the incident.

It is known that Thu Thiem 2 bridge is arranged with 110 manhole covers, the total installation cost for each set of manhole covers is 1.2 million VND. On the afternoon of May 5, some workers came to the above area to check the situation and proceed to weld the part of the manhole cover that had not been ploughed.

Thu Thiem 2 Bridge is a bridge connecting District 1 with Thu Duc City (HCMC). When put into use with artistic lighting design, Thu Thiem 2 Bridge will be an outstanding architectural highlight on the Saigon River both during the day and at night.

The bridge has a length of more than 1.4km, of which the length of the bridge is 886m with 6 lanes, rope design with the main tower 113m high.
