BILLIONThe Cambodia Mine Action Center (CMAC) said the AN-M66 bomb (made by the US), containing more than 500kg of explosives – was found during dredging and cleaning of the river at the junction of the Mekong River and the Mekong River. Tonle Sap River.

“If this bomb went off, it could cause huge damage to hotels, houses or even the Royal Palace,” CMAC general manager Heng Ratana said on Facebook.

He added that the bomb has now been taken out of the capital Phnom Penh for disposal.

“The CMAC bomb experts worked closely with the Phnom Penh government to transport this bomb to a safe area so that the CMAC experts could take further actions,” said Heng Ratana.

According to AFP, the US dropped millions of bombs on Cambodia and Laos during the wars in the 1960s and 1970s.
