Google Assistant is about to add an automatic password change feature

The Google Assistant application is becoming more and more perfect in supporting users against hackers, helping to change passwords when it detects it has been compromised.

According to Engadget, last year, Google said its Assistant app would suggest users to change their password when it detects a breach, and now the company is taking that seriously. The latest report comes from AndroidPolice says Assistant alerts are now rolling out more broadly to Chrome users, including those on Android.

Specifically, after logging into a website with a compromised password, users will receive a warning asking to change the familiar password. In particular, on some websites, users are given the option to have Assistant automatically make that change. The user can of course control the making of password changes at will, but this will be useful for those who don’t want to spend time researching creating alternative passwords.

The Assistant’s operation will be powered by Google’s web artificial intelligence (AI) system Duplex, where it will navigate web pages and apply password changes. The system can automatically click, scroll, and fill out forms that would normally require human intervention.

Note that this feature doesn’t work on all websites at this time, and the tool is only available to a relatively small group of users. The company still needs to improve its operability as well as ensure its usefulness.
