iPhone 14 Pro will have up to 48MP main camera?
For years, the iPhone was stuck with a 12MP camera that still took quality photos. However, Apple does not seem to have upgraded the resolution throughout the generations.
But this could change this year. The iPhone 14 generation is said to be equipped with a camera with a resolution of up to 48MP.
According to writer Mark Gurman from financial site Bloomberg, iPhone 14 will be upgraded in terms of pixels, but the improved camera will only be available on the Pro model to attract buyers to upgrade to more expensive versions.
Gurman is quite famous for giving sources of rumors and leaks related to Apple products. Recently, he also predicted quite accurately about Mac Studio as well as other products announced during Apple hardware events.
Not much is known about the camera, but a 48MP camera upgrade has been rumored for over a year now, and if accurate, Apple’s 2022 iPhone generation should provide more detailed images.
Due to the increased number of pixels, the pixels on the iPhone 14 Pro are said to be smaller and measure 1.22µm, down 0.68µm compared to the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
The new iPhone’s sensor is said to be 1/1.3-inch wide, up from the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, which have a smaller 1/1.65-inch sensor. If the leak is accurate, the iPhone 14 will have a sensor about 57% larger than the current model.
Upgrading the number of dots promises to help increase the resolution of the image and bring more detail. However, compressing smaller pixels can lead to poorer light performance, and Apple will need to fix it with software.
According to Gurman, the other changes on the iPhone 14 do not attract as much attention as the improved camera. The iPhone 14 generation will have a design similar to the design of its predecessor with the notch changing into a punch-hole screen and the Face ID camera will be placed in a circular cutout.
Gurman said another attraction is that the base model will have a 6.7-inch screen and promises to become extremely popular thanks to the large screen size that was only available on the Pro version of the previous generation.
