Samsung’s success comes from low-cost and high-end products that support 5G networks. Samsung’s most popular 5G smartphone model is the Galaxy A52s 5G.

This is also the most popular 5G Android smartphone on the market today, especially in the Western European market. The device used to be one of the 10 best-selling Android 5G smartphones for six consecutive months, which is an instant success after its launch in September 2021.

The second most popular Android 5G smartphone model is the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which accounts for less than 3% of total global sales. What is especially impressive is that this machine has only been sold since the end of February 2022.

Demand for the Galaxy S22 Ultra is particularly strong compared to the Galaxy S21 series. Partly thanks to its launch at a time when the market has stabilized again after a year of many impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. Besides, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is also a replacement machine and marks the “departure” of the Galaxy Note line.

In third place is the Galaxy S21 FE. This machine was released in January 2022 and still has positive sales thanks to demand in some markets such as Germany and the US.

The remaining devices in fourth and fifth place are the Galaxy A32 5G and Galaxy A22 5G. These are all low-cost smartphone models of Samsung but are selling well in markets such as the UK, US and India.

Not only is Samsung ahead in the 5G smartphone race

Joining Samsung in the 5G Android smartphone race, there are also competitors from China, such as Oppo, Vivo, Honor or Xiaomi.

Oppo has a mid-range Reno 7 5G model that is selling well in the Chinese domestic market. Or like Honor (formerly a subsidiary of Huawei) also has products that sell well and are on the list such as Honor 60 and Honor X30.

In addition, there are other products such as Vivo S12, Xiaomi Redmi K40. All are in the low-cost segment.

Overall, 5G Android smartphones accounted for 67% of global 5G smartphone sales in February 2022. The rest belongs to Apple’s iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series with 33%.
