Success begins with not being afraid to ask for help

There are people who have been working for more than a decade, still standing still. But there are some people who get promoted in a row after only a few short years of working.

So, in your opinion, what caused this difference in the end?

1. Instead of SOLUTIONING PROBLEMS, LEARN HOW TO SOLVE PROBLEMS.

Your boss has just asked you to prepare a plan. Right after that, your boss asks you to hold a meeting to prepare the plan. At the end of the meeting, your boss asks you “why haven’t you submitted the plan yet?”

Do you feel that you do not have time, how can you do it?

Actually, you can be lazy. Come to think of it, does the planning meeting necessarily open at that moment? If you told your boss to give you a two-day delay, but promised to present a complete and beautiful plan in person, would your boss agree?

Actually, the workplace is not like school, all questions don’t necessarily have to be answered. The boss is not a teacher, so there is no standard answer. You can’t turn the “task” your boss gives you into a “standard work” for performance.

It’s like your boss tells you to shoot birds. You miss, the tree is shaken. Seeing the movement, the birds flew away.

People with a student mindset will think “there’s no way, I have to go back to scold them”, because they have not completed the assigned work.

But the person who thinks at work is, “How about I pluck some fruit, bring back some more fish for my boss.”

It’s completely fine, because your mission is to go get food so that people don’t go hungry. The workplace doesn’t need to “solve the problem”, but “solve the problem”.

2. NOT ALL ADVERTISEMENT IS WRONG.

It is good to still humbly listen to the advice of the seniors who have gone before. You can avoid pitfalls and progress faster. But there is a kind of “senior advice” that I advise you not to listen to. It’s the kind of thing that constantly pokes at your weak points, constantly pumping out your willpower in order to strengthen your position.

For example, you are sensitive to words and very creative. But the opponent only focuses on not being good at your data to attack. They drop sentences like: “Without data capabilities, no matter how good your writing skills are, it’s useless…” to dampen your will.

Humans are very easy to “hit the weak spot”. They will “suggest” until you have to hastily admit your mistake, following their instructions step-by-step.

In this are hidden three cam traps:

Firstly, being criticized for exaggerating shortcomings for a long time without receiving any positive and encouraging comments. Your confidence will be destroyed.

In fact, if one is always recognized by others, higher achievement will be achieved.

Second, you spend all your time compensating for a defect, but the effect of making up for a defect is really poor.

An American university did an experiment with two groups of people: one group was general readers, the other group was genius readers. They were taught by the same teacher how to read quickly. The average casual reader reads 260 words per minute, nearly doubling performance. But genius readers read 2,900 words per minute, an increase of almost 10 times from the original.

At first, most people believed that the general audience would be more advanced. But in reality, you’ll be most productive when you’re working on your areas of strength.

Third, where the shortcomings make up for it, can hinder your success.

You must know that in this day and age, where the weaknesses in work can be solved through teamwork, what you need to do is establish your strengths.

Because your advantage is your core competitiveness. If you come across so-called “well-intentioned” suggestions above, you can also handle them like this:

“If I force myself to be someone else, I end up being nobody. I appreciate the talents of others, but I also have my own perseverance.

3. LAWING POWER IS A TYPE OF CAPACITY

Many of us in the workplace go to great lengths to solve problems and shoulder responsibilities. But we do not know “borrowing strength to work”.

The first reason is that I do not think that I can still borrow the strength of others to complete the work. Or I personally do not agree with this method of borrowing.

You feel that this is your job, borrowing others to do it, making you feel inadequate.

But if it is really to talk about incompetence, it must be said that you have been busy all day, but nothing is done.

In addition, people have another reason that they do not know how to borrow strength.

I have a colleague who is doing an offline activity. Alone, he frantically ran back and forth until he couldn’t do it anymore before he asked for help: I’m doing an activity here, I want to ask you to borrow two people to help.

After that, the people he asked for help made it difficult for him. He felt very sorry for himself, so I asked him to change his method.

In the early stages of the event, if you find someone you want to borrow, say, “I have an event here that can help you grow 2,000 fans, as long as you have two.”

Change “I’m looking for your help” to “I’m here to help”. Real borrowing is not asking for help but supporting each other. Not to exploit, but to tell the other party that I am here to benefit you.

From “three-inch thinking” that only stares at one side of the problem, to “systems thinking” that solves problems in multiple dimensions.

Behind all the behavioral changes is a jump in thinking.

When you feel that no matter how hard you try, you can’t get it done, keep this sentence in mind. In the workplace, borrowing is also a competency and in some cases is more important than “execution”.

4. DON’T ANSWER “OK” WHEN RECEIVED TASK. THIS TWO QUESTIONS MUST BE ASKED.

When you get a new assignment from your boss, don’t just say “OK”.

For example, when your boss asks you to make a plan, the most appropriate response would be:

1. Determine the completion time and actively tell the boss “When will I finish”.

2. Clarifying the job requirements, “How much can I do with this option”.

For example: “Yes, I will make a plan based on what was discussed in the meeting. Summarize the key issue. Have the meeting participants confirm the purpose of the plan and present it to the guest. at three o’clock tomorrow afternoon, can I give you the first draft?” Such feedback makes your work so many times more efficient.

Confirm that what you understand is correct with the boss’s request or not, to avoid misunderstandings causing unnecessary confusion.

Important things need to be repeated and confirmed two or three times. Compared to rushing to work immediately after receiving instructions, it is much more effective to confirm information many times.

And your act of “reconfirming” reveals your “mind” to the job.

It can effectively convey many positive messages and most importantly, it shows your “trustworthiness”. For example, you are a responsible person, you want to do a good job, not “what others say, that’s it”.

A simple action, but will help you improve your score effectively in the hearts of your boss and colleagues.

5. WHEN HAVE A PROBLEM DON’T ASK WHY, ASK HOW.

Faced with co-workers being late, if you ask “Why are you so late all the time”, that’s denial for a person. Moreover, it is also a form of denial “whatever they say the reason is, you will take it as an excuse”, it even stimulates passive resistance.

The most effective management method is to stimulate one’s goodwill, not their resistance.

If you change the question to: “So how do you think you can avoid being late?”

Just such a small change, the effect will be huge. When I ask people “what to do”, they start thinking of ways not to be late.

A coworker said they would set the alarm one day in advance. Another colleague said that if you are late again, you will be fined 100,000 VND.

Most importantly, the methods they suggest themselves will help them be more proactive in making changes.

So I both changed my question to:

Instead of asking “why do your manuscripts always make typos,” I would ask, “What can you do to avoid your typos?”

Instead of asking “why can’t you accomplish this goal,” I would ask, “how can you accomplish this goal?”

Not only did this keep me from being pressured, but on the contrary, it inspired my colleagues to suggest constructive alternatives.

“Why are you always late?”. This is an old-fashioned question, it cannot solve the problem of the present.

And “How not to be late”, in management is called “open topic”, helping listeners proactively plan changes for the future.

Using the future plan to solve the problems of the past, the efficiency will be doubled.
