According to Mr. Ngat, during class 4 of Technology on April 27, at class 6A7 – classroom number 307, building A, Vinh Quynh Secondary School, a ceiling fan near the upper door of the classroom was suddenly blown off. fell while running.

The propeller hit a student studying at the front desk of row 2, injuring his chin. Immediately after the incident, the school coordinated with the family to take the student to the hospital for examination and treatment of the wound.

According to the hospital’s conclusion, the student had a skin wound, a slight tear, so he needed stitches. Students are allowed to take a break from school to monitor their health. After 1 day, this student went back to school normally.

Leaders of Thanh Tri district’s Department of Education and Training discussed the incident of a ceiling fan falling in the classroom.

Mr. Pham Van Ngat also said that this incident is a lesson for schools to strengthen inspection and review of school equipment and facilities to ensure safety. “When the project is handed over, the contractor has checked and ensured the quality, but it is handed over to the schools – the direct users also need to check it thoroughly, regularly, to ensure safety, prevent accidents. Certainly, when the works are put into use later, the handover and acceptance will have to be carried out more closely, and the supervision stage is strengthened, “said Mr. Ngat.

It is known that Vinh Quynh Secondary School has just been rebuilt and put into use since December 2021 and the ceiling fan falling on students during school hours was due to an installation error.

Regarding the incident, Thanh Tri District People’s Committee directed the Department of Education and Training to coordinate with the Project Management Board, the Urban Management Department and the supervisory unit to send a working group to the scene to check, grasp the situation and direct. The school coordinated with the construction unit to determine the cause: Due to negligence in the installation of the ceiling fan from the beginning of the school year 2021 – 2022, it was not timely discovered to lose the locking pin, leading to the fan falling during operation.

Currently, the Department of Education and Training has reported to the District People’s Committee for a plan to handle the construction and installation unit. The District People’s Committee has also requested the District Construction Investment Project Management Board, the supervisory unit, the construction unit to inspect and review all installed and operated equipment, including: ceiling fan system at Vinh Quynh Secondary School so that similar incidents do not occur, ensuring the safety of officials, teachers, employees and students.
