On May 6, the People’s Committee of Quang Nam province and the Vietnam Expressway Development Investment Corporation (VEC) worked to resolve the shortcomings of the Da Nang – Quang Ngai expressway passing through this locality.

According to the report of the Danang – Quang Ngai Expressway Project Management Board, the construction process has to return 23 routes, a total of 73.5 km of roads to Quang Nam, but so far the project has only paid 21 routes with 68 routes. kilometer. Two 5.1 km long lines are actively built by Duy Xuyen district, and 400 m of DH5 road has not been implemented.

For 191 collection roads with a length of 63.8 km, the investor has just completed 170 roads with a total length of 52.9 km. 21 collection roads 10.7 km long have not been constructed. Out of 141 crossroads with a length of 25.1 km, the investor has just completed 133 roads with a length of 21.4 km. Also on this highway, 4.7 km of protective barriers have not been constructed.

Explaining the reason why the items have not been completed, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Binh, Deputy General Director of VEC, said that because the loan agreement had ended, the supervision consultant stopped providing services, the contractors withdrew from the construction site when the project was completed. contract period has expired. The project is not funded with about 2,060 billion VND to disburse the outstanding construction volume and construction of the remaining items. In addition, the construction process was stuck on the ground, so the contractor stopped.

To solve the shortcomings, Mr. Binh proposed the locality to finalize the cost of site clearance and resettlement for VEC to aggregate into the final settlement of the Da Nang – Quang Ngai expressway project in the second quarter of 2022. Then VEC submits to the competent authority for approval to adjust the total cost of site clearance of the project.

According to Mr. Binh, VEC is coordinating with relevant agencies to submit to the National Assembly Standing Committee for consideration and approval of the capital allocation policy for the project. “It is expected to be approved by July,” he said.

Mr. Le Tri Thanh, Chairman of Quang Nam province, said that the expressway helps connect the region but has certain effects, especially hindering the flow during the rainy season. Da Nang – Quang Ngai Expressway is more than 139 km long, from Da Nang City to Quang Ngai City with an investment of 34,000 billion VND. Phase 1 is 65 km long, from Da Nang city to Tam Ky city, Quang Nam province. Phase 2 from Tam Ky to Quang Ngai is 74 km long.

65 km of expressway in phase 1 was violated, causing damage of VND 811 billion. In December 2021, phase 1 of the case was tried, former VEC deputy directors Le Quang Hao and Nguyen Manh Hung were sentenced to 6 and 7 years in prison, respectively.
