Tien Giang: Industrial production and export recover and develop strongly

In consecutive months of the fourth quarter of 2021, the following month’s industries and fields all increased compared to the previous month, especially the province’s exports grew surprisingly: Turnover in October 2021 increased by 61% compared to September; November increased by 25.5% compared to October; December increased by 1.5 times in November… The recovery momentum is getting faster and faster, continuously being a bright spot in the economy of Tien Giang province.

Entering 2022, this situation continues to be well maintained, many advantageous factors are being promoted. Currently, businesses have orders until the end of the second and third quarters, and according to the forecast of the Department of Industry and Trade, take advantage of the tax incentives from the Vietnam – EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and The UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA) brings, in 2022, businesses will accelerate their access to the European market.

Regarding industrial production, in April 2022, businesses are gradually taking the initiative to source materials to restore production and business activities and partly benefit from the EVFTA and CPTPP Agreements. Notably, many businesses have had the supply of production materials and received orders for the second and third quarters of 2022. Total retail sales of consumer goods and services in the month reached nearly VND 6,640 billion, up 1.15% over the previous month and up 19.7% over the same period. Accumulated 4 months reached more than 26,400 billion dong, up 15% over the same period in 2021.

Tien Giang industry regains growth momentum

Import-export is also a bright spot in Tien Giang’s economic picture, in which, merchandise export turnover in April reached $412 million, up 46% over the previous month, up more than 18% over the same period. Accordingly, in the first 4 months of 2022, Tien Giang’s export turnover reached more than 1.4 billion USD, reaching more than 42% of the plan, up nearly 32% over the same period. In which, the main export products are aquatic products, rice, textiles, garments and metals.

In order to maintain the momentum of export growth in the coming time, the Provincial People’s Committee assigned the Industry and Trade sector to regularly work closely with specialized ministries and related ministries and branches to promptly support export enterprises. respond to the situation, while looking for new markets in addition to the traditional market, avoiding dependence on a key market.
