How to help family take care of F0, avoid cross-infection

The 5K-compliant family is flexible with the context, disinfecting regularly to avoid cross-contamination.

TS.BS. Tran Van Thien – Deputy Director of Hanoi National University Hospital, said that recently, some opinions have suggested that the 5K recommendation is no longer necessary and appropriate in the context of safe living with the pandemic. However, because the protective effectiveness of the Covid-19 vaccine is still not really high. The person who injects can still be infected, continuing to become a source of infection for people around. At the same time, Covid-19 does not have a specific treatment. Therefore, personal precautions such as the 5K recommendation still play an important role.

When the house has F0, the implementation of the 5K recommendation will have some changes and focus mainly on the following 3 activities.

Wear the mask

Because nCoV can be transmitted through the air, especially in enclosed and poorly ventilated spaces, Dr.BS. Tran Van Thien advised caregivers of F0 or F1 members in the same house to always wear a mask to minimize the risk of cross-infection in the family.

The expert also added that the habit of wearing a mask can prevent up to 50% of the risk of infection with respiratory diseases, including Covid-19. Photo: Shutterstock

Dip in a solution containing at least 60% alcohol to wipe the surface, do not rinse with water and let it dry naturally. Families should turn off electronic devices and light switches before disinfecting.

Families avoid using sponges and cotton cloths to disperse dust; Do not use a vacuum cleaner. Sanitizers need to wear rubber gloves and a mask. After cleaning, remember to wash your hands with hand sanitizer, then dry your hands with a handkerchief or tissue.

In the room, there are not many utensils and items that are difficult to clean such as stuffed animals, paper, cardboard… In front of the door of the isolation room, a table or chair should be placed to receive food and necessary personal belongings. In addition, experts also advise all family members not to share towels, bathing utensils, soap, dishes, phones… in this sensitive time to limit the risk of infection. cross contamination.
