Among 951 Vietnamese athletes attending the 31st SEA Games, some athletes have the honor to compete for the second time at the Games at home, after the first time held in 2003. Athlete Pham Van Mach is one of them. . The 2003 SEA Games was the first congress that Mach attended, and after 19 years, he had his fifth appearance with the goal of winning a gold medal in bodybuilding at the age of 45.

Similar to Pham Van Mach, Nguyen Tien Minh is the only player to participate in both SEA Games at home. The monument of Vietnamese badminton is still fighting at the age of 39.
