The US faces many difficulties in its efforts to control inflation

These days, Mr. Frank Hilliker – an egg farmer in the US is very worried about the fate of his chickens. An outbreak of bird flu can wipe out entire flocks of up to 25,000 chickens.

“If infected with bird flu, the rate of destruction can be up to 80-90%. That also means the whole flock will be wiped out,” said Mr. Frank Hilliker – chicken farm owner.

America is recording an outbreak HPAI worst since 2015, forcing the country’s authorities to cull 35 million birds, a tenth of the country’s total.

For people like Mr. Hilliker, the bird flu pandemic is another shock that aggravates the situation, having already suffered from an energy price shock.

Mr. Frank Hilliker said: “My expenses have doubled compared to a few years ago. Fuel prices increased 40%, labor costs increased 15%, so now I can only hope for egg prices. the market will increase, otherwise I will be forced to lay off workers.”

Chicken and egg prices are forecast to increase sharply in the US along with supply shortages, putting pressure on inflationary capital reached 8.5% in March, the highest level in 40 years.

Rising prices are likely to reduce consumption demand, creating a narrowing spiral for the US economy. In the short term, ranchers in the US are still hoping that the current flu epidemic will soon subside so that they can quickly re-herd and restore livestock production.
