1.64 m tall girl wins the challenge of Miss Universe Vietnam
Nguyen Hoang Yen – the lowest in the competition – won episode 4 “I am Miss Universe Vietnam 2022” thanks to his knowledge and good English.
In the reality TV episode on the evening of May 7, the coach team Mau Thuy won against Kim Duyen after the challenge of group debate. The runner-up selected 10 excellent contestants of the team, continuing a challenge to determine the winner, including Hoang Nhu My, Nguyen Hoang Yen, Nguyen Thi Huong Ly, Vu Thanh Phuong, Bui Thi Linh Chi, Nguyen Vo Ngoc Anh , Nguyen Anh Khue, Do Trinh Quynh Nhu, Vu Quynh Trang, Nguyen Thi Le Nam.

The 10 girls were divided into five pairs, each receiving an item with the corresponding hashtag. They have to use creativity, connect information to create stories, give personal views.
Hoang Yen received feminine hygiene products and the phrase #WellnessJourney. She said Vietnamese women are still shy and cautious about taking care of their health and protecting their private parts. Having lived abroad for many years, she compares Western and domestic women to see the difference. Contestants give the message: Women need to understand, love and take care of themselves more. In a developed society, the sharing of women’s secret problems from a civilized perspective should be replicated through forms such as making videos that are close and pervasive.
Runner-up Hoang Thuy commented: “The way you bring up the problem and solve it is very convincing. English ability is also very good”. Judge Vu Hoang My said: “Your speaking skills are good, your reasoning is strong, your knowledge is desirable”.
Nguyen Hoang Yen 24 years old, from Quang Ngai, currently works as a business strategy consultant. She was one of seven contestants who received a golden ticket from the judges at the preliminary round, entering the Top 71 directly.
Hoang Yen has been to 13 countries, worked in Europe, so she is fluent in foreign languages. At the casting, when the head of the jury asked to “tell the world one thing about Vietnam”, Hoang Yen said in English: “Being the contestant with the shortest height in the competition, but you know what, I’ve never been a contestant. Now disappointed in my ability. I came here to represent the intellect, the people and the aspirations of the Vietnamese people. This is my ideal.”

The co-winner with Hoang Yen in this episode is Nguyen Thi Le Nam. She received a divorce petition with the hashtag #SelfDefense. The contestant talked about the scar on her mother’s arm caused by domestic violence. She said that in her childhood, she witnessed many times when her father beat her mother. She said that if in the past she knew that there was a divorce paper soon, she would take her mother to soon get rid of her unhappy life. Through her personal story, Le Nam wants to convey the message: Women have the freedom to decide their own life and happiness, instead of seeking pity. Judge Vu Hoang My commended her for leading an honest, touching story, knowing how to inspire.
Her full name is Nguyen Thi Le Nam, born in 1996, in Tien Giang, is older sister of beauty Nam Em. Le Nam used to participate in the contest Charming Bolero 2018, The Face 2018, win the championship Vietnamese fashion model same year.
With the loss result, coach Kim Duyen selected 10 contestants of the team to enter the elimination round. In 45 seconds, the contestants answered questions from the judges with the theme “Woman leadership”. In the end, five contestants were eliminated: Pham Thi Minh Hue, Dang Vuong Huyen Tran, Hoang Thi Thanh Duoc, Nguyen Thi Hong Ngoc, and Ly Tu Chi. After episode four, the number of contestants continuing to accompany the contest was 58.
This year’s Miss Universe Vietnam has the theme “Vinawoman – Vietnamese bravery”, held from February 22 to June 17, the finale taking place in Ho Chi Minh City.
