China enters a new phase of anti-epidemic

A series of testing points have been built throughout the major cities of China. Beijing capital continues to conduct the mass testing new, while the city of Shanghai postponed the entrance exam for a month.

In the span of more than half a month, the 3.5 million people in the epidemic center of Beijing city were tested 10 times. Nearly all subway stations, buses passing through this district have stopped working. Agency employees work from home, kindergarten and primary school students study online, and restaurants are only allowed to take away. More than 18 million people in other districts in Beijing have been mass tested six times.

Although the number of cases has decreased for more than a week now, the city of Shanghai still postpones the university entrance exam (Gaokao) for a month because many localities are still under blockade, difficult to travel as well as the epidemic has not been completely controlled.

In big cities, the Chinese authorities have arranged a lot of testing points in residential areas, parks, train stations, and office buildings so that it only takes about 15 minutes for each citizen to get tested. Shanghai is expected to have 9,000 testing points, Hangzhou 10,000, and Beijing to organize thousands of points.

According to calculations, if tier 1 and tier 2 cities with more than 500 million people have free mass testing regularly in a year, China will cost about 257 billion USD, equivalent to 1.5% of GDP. As for the financial company Nomura (Japan), it is expected that China will lose up to 2.3% of GDP.

The arrangement of a series of testing points in cities to meet the normalization requirements when moving from one province to another, or going into closed spaces where there are many people all require test results.
