The length of the largest specimen can be up to 168 cm, the average length is 120 cm. Signs of identification of this snake are green on the top of the head, orange on the back of the head, white streaks below the eyes and a triangular black streak, and keyhole-shaped pupils.

The tongue of this snake has a black tip, the rest is orange or red, and the body is the color of a dry tree branch. Twisted snakes are also often confused with other snakes such as the immature Boomslang snake (strong venom).
